ITS OFFICIAL – GREG MINNAAR TO RACE IN HONDA

G-Cross/Honda team to announce in mid-December

Honda Japan’s research and development team insisted that the G-Cross RNO1 downhill prototype would not be produced until it was competitive. Honda believes that the forward-looking racer is ready to compete in the big league. World Champion Greg Minnaar announced recently that he will race for the G-Cross Honda team during the 2004 season. Minnaar and Honda will not reveal who will be racing for the G-Cross Honda Team or what type of hardware. Below is Minnaar’s official statement on the team.

We are unable to add any more information at this point. Once the program is finalized, Honda will issue a press release about Team G-Cross Honda’s 2004 program. Haro had to announce Greg’s departure from their program now. Honda agreed to let the world know where Greg would be, but they cannot add anything to the Haro statement until they have completed their entire program. An official press release is expected to be issued in December.

MBA believes that Honda will make different configurations for the RN01 in Downhill and Cross-Country competition. Honda’s interest in human-powered off-road activities is a departure from its motorsports roots and industrial engine manufacturing roots. Their participation in World Cup competition should give downhill racing a boost. The U.S. has no World Cup in 2004. If Greg is scheduled to race on the NCS circuit, you will have to fly to Canada.

Keep checking back.
